Mahdi Mansouri

Sustainable building blocks for footwear

Mahdi Mansouri

Mahdi is a chemical engineer specialized in catalytic processes. He holds an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering-Thermokinetics and Catalysis from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, where he worked on photoelectrocatalysis to convert CO₂ into high-value-added products. As an MSCA SCARPA doctoral fellow, he is developing a circular route to convert CO₂ into ethylene, backbone of polymeric compounds and a core material of the footwear industry, using Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cells (SOEC). He applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) to identify the most efficient and economical production pathway.

With hands-on experience in catalyst and electrode development, electrochemical characterization and performance testing of CO₂ conversion systems, process modeling and sustainability assessment, he bridges laboratory-scale electrocatalysis with industrial-scale feasibility and contributes to CO₂ mitigation and the transition toward a circular, low-carbon chemical and footwear value chain.
