SCARPA kick-off

1 min read

On 15 and 16 October 2026, we are officially kicking off the SCARPA project in Ghent (Belgium)! The SCARPA consortium will gather for two days of introductions, training and networking.

SCARPA (Sustainable and Circular Footwear Training Program) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network on circular footwear, coordinated by Prof. Steven De Meester (Ghent University). Its 15 doctoral candidates will be trained to become the next generation of experts in designing circular footwear, with expertise across the whole footwear value chain: from the role of the consumer and product design to recycling technologies and life cycle assessment.

The meeting brings together the doctoral candidates, their supervisors and the partner organisations to get to know each other, align on the research and training programme, and plan the next steps of the project.

We will share impressions and highlights from the meeting after the event. Follow SCARPA on LinkedIn to stay up to date.
